We will point you in the direction of all the great Louisville Parks and recreation. Did you know that Louisville has a famed skateboard Park? You will also find that Louisville has parks scattered all through Jefferson County from west end to east end and even sports the Jefferson Memorial Forest in the southernmost area of the county.
The first Saturday in May, the sports world turns its focus on Louisville for the running of the Kentucky Derby. The Kentucky Derby museum is also part of Churchill Downs.
Louisville has a lot of culture. We will point you to the Speed Museum and the Kentucky Center for the Arts along with Fourth Street Live.
Louisville is also a big convention city featuring the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center with over 1 million square feet of indoor space sitting on 300 acres. Conventions bring in millions of dollars of revenue.
UPS Air headquarters is based in Louisville. Louisville is the hub of the UPS air business with 250 flights daily from all around the world.
Ford Motor Company has 2 plants in Louisville. The oldest plant is on Fern Valley Road and where the Explorer is made. This plant will be converted in the future to smaller vehicles. The Truck Plant is located on Chamberlain Lane on the eastern side of Jefferson County. The F250, F350, and F450 Super Duties are made there.
General Electric has been in Louisville for years. Their appliance division makes washers and dryers. They will soon be expanding and building high efficiency water heaters in 2011.
